Breaking Down the Results of the Heat Test

At Suppressed Weapon Systems, we are confident in our product and even more so following recent tests; we conducted a heat experiment of our MISB barrel with an AR platform, recently. The test consists of shooting 40 rounds on two rifles back-to-back, first with our MISB barrel and then again with an industry standard thread on suppressor. Temperatures were then taken at two, five, and ten minute marks. Here is a simple breakdown of the results:

After the first 20 rounds fired, the MISB barrel is 43% cooler than the industry standard thread on suppressor. After another 20 rounds, the difference in temperature rose to 70%. The real differences can be seen in the cool down period of the firearm. Two minutes after the shots were fired, the MISB barrel was roughly 106% cooler. The heat discrepancy continued to grow up until five minute mark where the thread on suppressor was over 110% hotter!

After several more rounds of testing our results remained relatively constant, confirming our prediction. MISB barrels maintain lower temperatures during firing and retains its lower temperature throughout the cool down process. Practical Uses for the Improvements of MISBs

Monolithic Integral Suppressed Barrels (MISBs) offer numerous benefits, including improved recoil, accuracy, and heat reduction. But the true improvements are not in any quantifiable measurements – each of the benefits of MISBs yields different real world improvement that ultimately makes the sport of shooting easier and safer for all. Below is a simple breakdown of how MISBs can provide additional utility for gun enthusiasts everywhere:

  • Reduced recoil: Hard recoil is a leading cause of people experiencing nervousness about shooting a firearm. With reduced recoil, shooting can be more accessible to those that are too small or were previously afraid of firearms
  • Heat Reduction: The increased heat reduction from an MISB allows a shooter to fire more shots while keeping the firearm in a safe condition. Hot barrels are one of the leading causes of accidents at the firing range.
  • Improved Accuracy: If a gun owner must take defensive action against an intruder, it is imperative that the gun is as accurate as possible in order to save their life and reduce the chance of casualties.

The benefits of a Monolithic Integral Suppressed Barrels are not that they’re just something to show to your gun loving friends. At Suppressed Weapon Systems, we understand first hand that guns are dangerous weapons. We strive to create new products that only increase the safety of a firearm. Contact us today at (832) 759-9634 to speak with an MISB specialist and learn more about MISBs.

How Quiet are MISB’s Really?

Gunshots can be heard miles around, and in many ways that is a huge appeal for gun enthusiasts everywhere. But when police forces are constantly sent your way because of a pesky raccoon, it is reasonable for a gun owner to begin looking at sound suppression methods. While there are many thread on suppressors currently on the market, monolithic integral suppressed barrel (MISB) products offer superior sound deadening as well as improved recoil and accuracy.

A standard big-bore rifle typically produces sound levels over 175 decibels; however, with an integral suppressed barrel, this sound level can be reduced to around 130 decibels. For comparison, 175 decibels is roughly louder than a fighter jet at launch while 130 decibels is only slightly louder than a large balloon popping.

Here at Suppressed Weapon Systems, we strive to build high quality products that are innovative while still being class leading. We have barrels that fit a multitude of different calibers and sizes are we willing to fabricate a custom MISB product for your firearm if need be. If you are interested in learning more about the benefits of an integral suppressed barrel, give us a call today at (832) 759-9634.

Eliminating the Possibility of a Baffle Strike

When a standard tread-on suppressor is attached to a firearm, it is possible that the projectile may actually come into contact with the suppressor as it leaves the barrel in what is known as a baffle strike.  Though it should really go without saying, these incidents can be exceedingly dangerous for the shooter and anyone else standing nearby.  The likelihood of a baffle strike occurring with a standard thread-on suppressor will significantly increase if:

  • The thread-on suppressor is improperly attached;
  • Debris gets on the threading of the suppressor and causes misalignment; or
  • A sharp impact caused the threading to bend and become misaligned.

With our Monolithic Integral Suppressed Barrels, the possibility of a baffle strike drops to almost zero.  Since the suppression system and the barrel are combined in a single-piece construction, it is impossible for a baffle strike to occur under the circumstances that are associated with standard thread-on suppressors and highly unlikely under even the most adverse of conditions.

If you would like to learn more about our lineup of MISBs, we would be happy to talk with you and answer any questions you may have directly.  To speak with a member of our team at Suppressed Weapon Systems about any of our products, please call our offices at (832) 759-9634 today.

Easing Newcomers into the Sport with Our MISBs

The report and recoil of many rifles can be enough to keep some people from participating in a sport they may otherwise enjoy. However, because our Monolithic Integral Suppressed Barrels (MISBs) significantly reduce both the sound and recoil of any weapon that they are built in to, these weapon systems make it possible to ease newcomers into the sport.

To give you a better idea of what our fully integrated suppression systems can do, our MISB can make the report from a .243 Winchester quieter than that of a .22 Magnum that is equipped with a standard thread-on suppressor. At the same time, our MISB will reduce the recoil of that same .243 Winchester by around 40% of what it would normally be.

At Suppressed Weapon Systems, we have dedicated ourselves to designing fully integrated suppression systems that are as useful to newcomers as they are to veterans of the sport. If you would like to learn more about our MISBs, please don’t hesitate to call a member of our team at (832) 759-9634 today.

Technical Improvements over Traditional Suppressors

At Suppressed Weapon Systems, our Monolithic Integral Suppressed Barrel (MISB) design has made significant practical and technical improvements over traditional suppressors in just about every conceivable way. The most obvious of the practical improvements, of course, is the fact that users will no longer need to deal with the separate apparatus of the suppressor, as our MISBs have combined the suppressor and barrel into one seamless piece.

Though our MISB represents a more fundamental improvement over traditional suppression systems, it is worth noting that we have made significant improvements in each of the following areas with our MISB:

• Recoil
• Suppression
• Dispersion of heat
• Impact Shift
• Serviceability
• Baffle strikes
• Back pressure

If you are interested in learning more about the technical improvements that we have made with our Monolithic Integral Suppression Barrels, we would be happy to talk with you about our products in greater detail. Recoil Testing on our MISB Rifles

At Suppressed Weapon Systems, our Monolithic Integral Suppressed Barrel rifles have many advantages over a standard rifle, one of the most prominent being the reduction in recoil.  To illustrate this, our team set out to do a controlled experiment that compared two MISB rifles and two standard rifles of the same caliber.  Our experiment began by hanging each of the four rifles from the ceiling on a shooting rest.  Essentially, when fired, we were able to precisely measure the vertical distance each rifle caused the shooting rest to move—letting us effectively measure the recoil.

Our results indicated that:

  • Our MISB could reduce 30% of a .300 Winchester Magnum’s normal recoil
  • Our MISB could reduce 40% of a .243 Winchester Magnum’s normal recoil

Along with reduced recoil, our MISB rifles also improved accuracy, heat dispersion, and sound suppression.  At Suppressed Weapon Systems, we are dedicated to helping individuals find the firearm that best meets their needs.  To learn more, call us today at (832) 759-9634.

Performance of Suppressed Weapon Systems’ Monolithic Integral Suppressed Barrel

Suppressed Weapon Systems has created a fully integrated firearm suppression system with their Monolithic Integral Suppressed Barrel (MISB) rifle. Unlike other suppressors that have to be added on as a secondary piece of equipment, our MISB design has combined a barrel and suppressor into a single unit with impressive performance:

  • Accuracy: Our MISB bolt action rifles exceed the standards required of a professional, F Class shooter.  Our barrels are able to retain the firmness of a bench-rest rifle without the extra weight, and can fire sub MOA immediately.
  • Recoil: Our MISB can reduce a .300 Winchester Magnum’s normal recoil by 30% through the redirecting, trapping, and slowing of gas that is released when the weapon is fired.
  • Sound suppression: Our MISBs have greatly increased sound suppression, as well.  For example, our MISBs can reduce the sound produced by a .300 Winchester Magnum to 133dBs, which is quieter than a .308 with a thread-on suppressor.
  • Heat Dispersion:  Our MISBs also have 3x the surface area of a standard thread-on suppressor.  This allows our integral suppressed barrels to prevent the temperature from rising too quickly in the suppressor tube.
  • Serviceability: Servicing one of our MISB bolt guns will take less than 30 seconds and doesn’t require the use of any tools.
  • Strength: You could hang more than 150lbs from our MISB’s muzzle without damaging the barrel. Essentially, this rifle is extremely strong.

Not only do our MISBs stand far above other products on the market, but they can also be customized to meet your specific needs.
