How Quiet are MISB’s Really?

How Quiet are MISB’s Really?

Gunshots can be heard miles around, and in many ways that is a huge appeal for gun enthusiasts everywhere. But when police forces are constantly sent your way because of a pesky raccoon, it is reasonable for a gun owner to begin looking at sound suppression methods. While there are many thread on suppressors currently on the market, monolithic integral suppressed barrel (MISB) products offer superior sound deadening as well as improved recoil and accuracy.

A standard big-bore rifle typically produces sound levels over 175 decibels; however, with an integral suppressed barrel, this sound level can be reduced to around 130 decibels. For comparison, 175 decibels is roughly louder than a fighter jet at launch while 130 decibels is only slightly louder than a large balloon popping.

Here at Suppressed Weapon Systems, we strive to build high quality products that are innovative while still being class leading. We have barrels that fit a multitude of different calibers and sizes are we willing to fabricate a custom MISB product for your firearm if need be.
